Well, thanks to a snow day, the 2nd season of House of Cards, and a free Sunday, I've managed to get 30 tactical marines painted. Two squads of 15, lookin' for bases. I've included a photo of one of the squads pre-wash, and a couple pre-wash close ups of some of the freehand stuff on one of the Sgts. On to some bases!

Just interested, how did you do the blue/turquoise? Starting alpha and really like that colour
Hey there! Glad you dig them.
The basic gist is:
Black or dark brown base-coat.
Hawk Turqoise (old GW), or Vallejo Turqoise. You can brush or airbrush this.
Army Painter Strong Tone.
Re-highlight with the turquoise.
Done!
I also added chip-weathering with a sponge and terracotta, and then a grey, before the wash. I used the grey (Army Painter Uniform Grey) to add some scratches and hit the edges/corners of some of the plates after I re-hightlighted, as well.
You don't have to, though! Just the turqoise/wash/re-highlight works!
Thanks very much, been looking for a decent colour im happy with, been stuck with going metallic or not and thats one of the best non metallic ive seen around lately. will definitely give it a go and see how they turn out for me.
will have to get in contact at some point to let you know how they go.
