Pre Heresy Alpha Legion updates!

Well, I've been busy not being able to stick to one project, but I've gotten a lot done on a few. Sometimes, I have to just fully embrace the fact that my inspiration shifts from project to project, and get things done on whatever I have momentum to work on. Right now, I've got my caestus mostly done. This will be for transporting my Laernaen terminators in big games. It needs some freehand somewhere (haven't decided on what I'm going to do yet), and some washes, and that'll be that.

Next up is a test model for my Dark Furies...still deciding on the right shoulder. Anyone have some Raven Guard decals they wanna share?

Finally, I have a Storm Eagle. It's a regular Storm Raven, with the Chapterhouse extend-o kit added. I really like that kit, and I think it perfectly fixes my issues with the proportions on the 'Raven, which I think is otherwise an awesome kit. I also hated assembling the fire raptor, so I wasn't willing to subject myself to another giant flying pain in the ass. The missile pods on the wings are just from the whirlwind kit.

Arena Rex Progress!

Some paint is finally happening!
I am working out a date for my first demos, so I'm going to try and have this done by then...

Also, some pillars to go with my mats. Just yer basic cake topper style. I sprayed them once with bone spray, then again from a downward angle with white. Easy peasy.

Alpha Legion Fire Raptor

Phew! I have finally (almost) finished my Alpha Legion Fire Raptor. All I have left to do is tint the windshield orange, and then it'll be completely done. I can't say it was my favorite thing to assemble or paint, but I'm happy enough with the way it turned out in the end. I have a minor repair to do above the right engine, but that's not a big deal.
Next, I'm either going to dive right into another flyer (caestus or my converted storm eagle), or bang out some more infantry for these guys.

Arena Rex- Ywain, Valen, and Legio XIII

Awwww yeah! More Arena Rex! These guys are hot off the presses from Gencon. My friend dropped by the Red Republic booth and picked up Ywain and Valen for me. The completion of these two puts my Legio XIII ludus at 5 gladiators, which is about the size they recommend for full-on play. I'm excited to get the other ludii up to this level and get some games in!

Hagal- Arena Rex

So, I stole some time yesterday and cranked out Hagal for my Zephyri. This puts me up to 3 painted ludii I can field, each with 2 normal based models and one big guy. I'm pretty happy with the way my Zephyri are looking. I can't wait to get some color on the boards and get some games in on them.
Also, as you can see in the background, there's been progress on my Fire Raptor, but that's a whole separate post.

More Arena Rex Board Progress!

Well, after a solid Sunday's work, we have quite a bit done on our Arena Rex boards. Our DirtPit is just about ready for paint, and we started work on our Henge board. We're pretty stoked about the progress on these guys. I can't wait to get some color on them and start getting some games in!

The pit board has the tried and true "dig the foam out and stick tooth-picks in it" technique. We made the also tried and true planking to cover them. They are also small enough that if we want, we can cover them with dueling rings.

The henge is in it's infancy, but you can see the scale we're looking at.

Salamander Pyroclasts

Well, I said they were up next, and here they are: my first five Salamander Pyroclasts. These models are super dense with details, so I tried to keep the color scheme as bare-bones as possible. I've got 5 more of these dudes to paint, and then my 2,000 point list will be complete! These dudes have been brutal in the zone mortalis and tactical strike games I've used them in.
